It's always difficult to accept change when it hurts. Lately so many of my friends have ended relationships and i've watched them try and pick up the pieces and move on. As a troubador, I live in a a perpetual state of goodbye's and leaving. I read great artists and writers like Bono, Jonathon foreman, Stephen Christian and Donald Miller and I often wonder if their journey's to greatness have scarred them in some private way. There a few quotes that sort of confirm my suspicions that poverty and stability are an amazing trade for music and travel. They help bring comfort to my doubts.

“I've never known a musician who regretted being one. Whatever deceptions life may have in store for you, music itself is not going to let you down.” - Virgil Thompson

“There is something more than music here, and only one in a million bands can get to this place,” -Donald Miller

Today I feel as though my thoughts are scattered. I pray for clarity in such times and for wisdom and patience.

I've been tied up with rehearsal and in the studio producing 3 separate records at the same time. One is a band I mentioned named Tracy. Their record incorporates a lot of older style sounds like funk and moown type tones. Pretty cool stuff from a recording standpoint. The other band is a local group. The third is a group now called tracks like trains. They are similar to Deep Sea Diver and/or The Arcade Fire. Lots of Room Sound stuff.

Rehearsal is going well. I had some difficulty at first but now i'm steeping it up and bringing my "A" game to the practices. Sometimes it takes me a bit to step out of studio mode and become a guitar player again. But i'm getitng used to it now. Awesome.

It's my birthday on wednesday. Buy me presents or at least say hello.

Yesterday I spent the majority of the day in the studio working on my friends band Tracy. They are what I would describe as progressive dance rock. Think Blood Brothers meets Circa Survive.

Also, I got a new guitar amplifier yesterday. It's a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier head with the Mesa Custom Cab that has the vintage 30's. I have been really blessed thus far. I have big shoes to fill in the band I am joining, but i'm also really excited about the changes taking place. I get nervous sometimes when rehearsing (and im not the nervous type)... that just means i'm excited. Pray for me in this new exciting change in my life.

Life.

Two days ago I was on tour in Dallas texas with my friends in the band Another Rising. Now i'm home preparing and writing for a record that the band I just joined (Burning Tree Project) is going to do with the famous James Paul Wisner (that guy who brought you Dashboard Confessional, Underoath, New Found Glory, Further Seems Forever, etc.).

I flew home amidst some turmoil and health problems because I feel called to do this. I can't fully explain it, but it is the right thing for me riight now.

I'm posted at my parents house in Norwalk, CA today trying to find good deals on some much needed gear.
